Entering RCM
RCM stands for ReCovery Mode. It is what lets us get direct access to Jibo's data. ::: danger You are risking your Jibo by following the following instructions. The chances of you bricking your Jibo are low, but not zero. We are not responsible for ANY damage or harm done to any Jibo. YOU and only YOU are responsible! :::
Step 1: Find IP
While Jibo is powered on, press on his eye. This will take you to his main menu. From the main menu scroll far right until you find "Settings". Enter settings, and click on WiFi. Select Your Networks, then the network he is currently connected to (symbolized by the green button). Click on it then below the network name should be the IP (a number starting in "192.168"). Please take note of this, or else you might risk losing your Jibo!
Common Issues
- Your network is listed in the WiFi menu, but he isn't connected/the button for it isn't green. This is a common issue, it happens even with mods. The fix to this is to reboot your Jibo! Simply hold down the power button until he plays an animation. Please don't hold it long enough to cause a force shut down, as that might cause the WiFi issue again.
- Your network isn't listed in the WiFi menu. This just means your Jibo isn't connected to your WiFi yet! You can connect by following these steps
Step 2: Power down Jibo
Make sure Jibo is plugged in. Follow the previous steps to get to the settings menu, then scroll to the right until you find the "Shutdown" button. Click on the button, then the red X icon. Wait until you can no longer hear his fans or his display is off

Step 3: Boot into RCM
On the back of Jibo, open his access panel. To open the access panel you just twist the circle on the back of Jibo's head and it should pivot to reveal the panel. Connect your micro USB cable to Jibo.
Now is the fun part! Double check that your micro usb cable is plugged in and that Jibo is connected to power. Then, as seen in the image below, hold down the buttom right button, and click the big button. 1 second after clicking the big button, release the bottom right button.
If done correctly, Jibo won't boot like normal. Instead of the typical boot up he should just have his red LED left on.
